Communist Parties

So, what ever became of those Communist Parties in former Communist states?

I've done a little research and I've come to some striking conclusions.

There seems to be a drive within people to serve the public. A number of members of parliament, from any country, at any time, will be these people. Regardless of ideology, there are those who truly want to do good, and do it through official means. This is perhaps most evident in the former East Germany where "communists" woke up one day and realized - hey, we are not really "communist" after all. Some of them are now right-wing members of Germany's CDU. So what happened? Well as I said earlier, many of these members were people who wanted to represent the public. In East Germany, the only way to do that, was to become a "communist", so they just 'faked it'. This explains why some people can cross between parties without batting an eye. Gurmant Grewal for example joined the BC Reform Party after losing out his nomination bid for the BC Liberals. This theory explains how "Communist" and other single-party countries around the world seem to have an expiry date of around 50-100 years.

I then took it to examine what happened to Communists in eastern europe.

In Russia. Most of the "communists" now find themselves in the local party. Those in it for the power, meanwhile, make up the current "ruling class" of Russian politics.

In the Baltic republics, the party was banned after democratic parties beat them in elections. In other republics like Armenia, and Georgia there was a similar ballot box defeat. In Ukraine and Azerbaijan, the Communist Party ended up, ironically, leading the nation though its earliest stages of Independence. The Communists still hold a presence in the Ukraine. Their candidate took 3.5% of the vote in the 2010 Presidential election, and they currently hold 27 of the 450 seats in Parliament. Sadly, there is a lack of data from the central Asian republics.

Up next, the eastern bloc.

Hello world

It's me, Teddy from niXtuff. I've decided to open this 'blog' if you will so that I may share with you the strange and random research that I do from time to time.
